Shalom Yerushalayim (Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem)

blood moonPray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of the Lord our God. I will seek your good. Psalm 122:6-9

Almost 3 years ago, a friend of mine whom I call “The Watchman” mainly because he knows stuffs that the average person on the planet doesn’t know or wouldn’t like to know; he sent me a video clip he’s discovered about the 4 blood moons. I’m sure by now some of you have I’ve heard about this. It’s all over the Internet at the moment. Although this article is not about the  blood moon; it’s one of the events God used to get my attention and remind me about the urgency of the time we live in.

So take a few minutes to watch an overview of the Four Blood Moon, if you not aware of it.
This is Mark Biltz, a Jewish pastor who discovered it back in 2008.

Long Version (Detailed Explanation including God’s Festivals)

When I first heard this I was blown away and immediately convince that something significant might happened with Israel within 2014-2015, because of the last two events.
In my opinion in terms of the prophetic calender, Israel becoming a nation in 1948 is second only to Jesus coming back again in the sky with every eye seeing Him. I say this because every other major events on the prophetic calender demands that Israel had to be a Nation in their own Land and for a while it was quiet difficult to see this happening because for nearly 1900 years they haven’t had their own Land. On 14th May 1948 Israel became a nation. Something that has never happened in human history; a people group have return back to their own land with their language, culture and religion in tact, after having been scattered all over the world for almost 1900 years. WOW…talk about a miracle.

Then there’s a Jerusalem; the city of the Great King as referred to by Jesus Himself (Matt 5:35). God Himself declared that He’s going to make Jerusalem the capital city of the World (Eze 5:5). So of course Israel capturing Jerusalem back after the Six-Day war is also another major tick on the prophetic calender.

So being aware of this and hearing that when these 2 major prophetic events happened there was a tetrad lunar eclipses that fell on God’s 1st festival (Passover) and last Festival [Sukkot(Fest of Tabernacle)]; It sure got my attention.
But more interestingly the next tetrad lunar eclipse which will fall on the 1st and Last of God’s festival in this century will be in 2014 & 2015, I was convinced that something will happen with Israel but didn’t even try to speculate what could happen.

So a year and half passed and I’ve completely forgotten about it. But one night last year at IHOPKC as i was getting ready for bed, all of sudden the 4 blood moon just came to my mind and I said to myself I’ve got to look into that again the next morning. The next day when I turned on my computer to check my email, my Watchman friend had send me an email about the very thing I said I was going to look into. I think he’s actually forgotten that he had send me that same video clip a year and half ago. That for sure got my attention; I’ve been a christian for a while and I’ve realized with God there are no coincidences. So the next thing on my mind was “God are you trying to tell me something?” Few days passed and i was in the prayer room reading on 1 Chronicles 21&22; the event surrounding the location and preparation for the building of the Temple.

All of a sudden I stopped and asked “why am I still reading this?” Now for more than a week I’ve been reading this part of 1 Chronicles over and over again, and I’ve no idea what I’m hoping to get. I only started reading it because I heard someone say something about David meeting an angel of the Lord and I don’t ever remember a time where David met an angel face to face. So I only started reading those passages just to make sure that he was saying the right thing and for more than a week I’ve been stuck on those passages, even though i had tons of scriptures I’d plan to read. Then a thought came to me “What’s if the next major event to happened to Israel will lead to them gaining the location and making preparation for the rebuilding of the Temple (House of the Lord)?” Now the rebuilding of the Temple is another major mark on the prophetic calender. If this is so then what does this mean for me as a gentile believer? why is this coming to me now and what can I do about it?

One thing I so appreciate at IHOPKC is their heart for Israel; and for that reason I got to understand the significant roles that gentiles believers like myself play with Israel especially as we draw near to the end of this age. If you’ve read my article “Born is the Jewish King of the World” I made statement that one day we’ll all become Jews. Ofcourse I meant spiritually, and in God’s perspective we’re all one people, under the Abrahamic covenant in Christ. However Israel will always remain God’s firstborn son (Exo 4:22-23 ) and the Jewish ethnicity will always be Jews; just like Koreans will always be Koreans. So one thing that became clear is for me after this experience was to stand with Israel in prayer; to pray for her safety and peace, understanding that only Jesus can bring the ultimate peace in that land and Jesus is not coming back until they cry out for Him to come.

I only decided to blog about this cos few weeks ago after asking God for his leadership, He reminded me of what’s he asking me to give myself to for a season and confirmed it through a friend, that same day. So why stand with Israel, the Jews & Jerusalem?

1: Because Jesus loves her and desires to dwell in her forever.

For me this alone should be all the reason I need to love Jerusalem and stand with her in good and bad times. I desire to love the things Jesus loves and hate the things He hates. My desire is for my heart to burn for the things Jesus’ heart burns for.

Just listen to these promises God made about her (Jerusalem);

For the Lord has chosen Zion(Jerusalem), he has desired it for his dwelling, saying: “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it….Psalms 132:13-14

…This is what the Lord Almighty says: “I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her.”
This is what the Lord says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.”
 Zechariah 8:2-3

“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst... Zechariah 2:10-11

…At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts….Jeremiah 3:17

WOW! Incredible! …talk about zealous. The Faithful One has promised to dwell in only one city of the world; You can be sure that’s it’s going to happen. IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN COS ITS WRITTEN DOWN!

So we stand with Jerusalem because it’s the city God has chosen for Himself and He’s coming to rule and reign over all the nations of the earth from that city.

2. Jesus is not returning until Jerusalem calls/bids Him to come.

At Jesus first coming, the Jewish leaders rejected him failing to see/recognize Him as the prophesied Messiah. Jesus seeing the hardening of their heart and the trouble they will go through because of their disobedience grieved over them and prophesied saying:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! (Matt 23:37-39)

We’ve seen that Jesus is coming again to rule the earth from the city of Jerusalem, but with this prophesy that Jesus Himself made, He’s not going to come to the city unless they calls for Him. Other prophesies shows that on the brink of Israel destruction they will cry out to Him to intervened and Jesus will come in the flesh to destroy their enemies.

However for them to be able to call on the true messiah (Jesus Christ) of whom we (Christians) worship and not just another person who will come to claim to be the messiah, then we the gentiles will have to show them or provoke them to jealousy as Paul put it.
Paul said the fullness of the gentiles will provoke Israel to jealousy which will lead to the salvation of the whole nation as Jesus comes to deliver them (Romans 11:11; 25-26).

For this reason our role in Jerusalem recognizing Jesus as their messiah depends on us reaching our fullness in terms of maturity in Christ and number in salvation. (Romans 11:11-12; 25-26, Luke 21:24)

Imagine a gentile believer walking in intimacy and miraculous power such as Moses and Elijah then declaring to the Jews that it is because of the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob; of David and Yeshua (Jesus) that I’m doing this. This is your inheritance right (birth right) but because you fail to receive His way of salvation through Yeshua Ha-Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah); He has given it to us the gentiles. But’s He hasn’t rejected you; You’re His firstborn son and the double portion of the blessing is still yours by right, if you’ll only let go of your own way and accept His way.

Imagine Israel & Jerusalem going through an intense persecution and you a gentile believer risking your life to rescue, shelter, and provide for all their needs supernaturally such as multiplying food or praying for manna from heaven; and then they ask why doing this? Then you tell them; Their messiah, Yeshua appear to you in a vision and showed you were they were to rescue them.

This might sound far-fetched but if the promises and prophesies of the great and terrible day of the Lord are true; then my imagination is far too low. I believe those days are fast approaching.
So why stand with Jerusalem? It’s because our future blessed hope and theirs are one and the same thing. They’re our big brother and even though they’ve forsaken their primary role and responsibility, God is going to use us (gentiles) to help restore them to their rightful place in the family, just as Paul foretold.
What can we do now?

  • Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

The prophet Isaiah foretold that God Himself will raise up people who will not keep silent (day & night) or give Him (God) rest until He makes Jerusalem, “a praise in the earth”.  Isaiah 62.

Today this prophesy is unfolding right before our eyes; 24/7 Houses of Prayer and prayer chains are springing up all over the earth and many of them have a core vision of praying for Jerusalem. Right now as I speak there’s a 24/7 worship and Prayer in Jerusalem literally giving God no rest until He makes her righteousness shines to the whole world. What a glorious time to be alive!
So why don’t you put your name in the Bible? Become one of these watchmen who will not be silent before God; to stand and pray until God’s Dream become a reality….Jerusalem; A Praise In The Earth.

  • Learn about Israel & Jerusalem

Another way to stand with Jerusalem is to learn about her. Learn about her past, present and her glorious future. Learn about her culture and language. The great thing is most of her culture heritage is Biblical; such the festivals, which all point to Jesus. In my late teen years, I made an attempt to learn the language and though I didn’t go much far with it; the things I learned I’ve stuck with me ever since such as learning to read and write in Hebrew. Visit her and learn about the people first hand. It’s amazing how you’ll cultivate love for her if you’ll make time to know her.

  • Partner with Missionaries & Ministries to Jerusalem.

You can also stand with Israel by support & partnering with  missionaries and ministries that work to evangelized the Jews . Many evangelical churches and ministries are now sending missionaries to Jerusalem and Israel to help bring the saving knowledge of their Messiah. A few I can think of now include;
