Love Devotional: Wednesday – Week 4

Week 4, Day 3 – The Call Pt 2

“As the Father has loved me (Jesus), so have I loved you…John, The Beloved

…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28

The desire and longing of the human heart to be great (significant) is not wrong nor sinful. It only becomes wrong when we seek it in wrong ways or from the wrong things. The Great God created you to be great in His sight; Like we’ve said several times; you were the one creature made to know God intimately and to do exactly what He does; you were made for His Heart and His Throne. Is there anything in the universe greater or more significant than that?

For this reason, the core of Jesus’ Kingdom messages are all about inviting people to live lives in this age that will lead to greatness in the Kingdom of God. The call to reign with Him in the age to come is the invitation for greatness in His Kingdom.

This call for greatness in His Kingdom or specifically the authority to reign with Him is actually the reward (one of many) that He will give us to express how He feels about the way we lived and loved Him here on earth. He uses eternal rewards as the motivation to help us not to give up or give in to the pressures of life that come to sway us from the eternal greatness we were destined for. They help us see that no matter how difficult things get out here; it’s all going to be worth it in the end. Like Paul put it…For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Cor 4:17

Keep in mind that Jesus call or invitation for our greatness/authority to reign with Him has nothing to do with our outward achievements, accomplishment or the size of our ministry impact. Rather, it is based on the development of our inner man in love (obedience), meekness, faithfulness (perseverance & endurance), and revelation or in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Spirit. Again, those who are most like Him would be found worthy to reign with Him. He desires a bride who looks, acts and thinks like Him; a bride equally yoked to Him.

Since this is your eternal destiny, everyhing that God allows in your way then are the means by which to bring you into your eternal destiny. God’s trials and testing proves the gold in you and not the garbage.

YOU WERE DESTINED TO REIGN WITH HIM.
